Frankfort's "Craw" oral history project, 1991.

Between 1955 and 1972 Frankfort's "Bottom" or "Craw" community, an integrated working-class neighborhood, was systematically destroyed by the urban renewal process in the capital city. In a series of interviews former residents describe their experiences with urban renewal and the institutions, people, and events that defined their neighborhood and their daily existence. Among the topics covered are: urban renewal process, local businesses, residential housing conditions, race relations, prostitution, gambling, bootlegging, civil rights activities, African American education, and civic and community leaders.
